Album Review: Fabric 65 – Matthias Tanzmann

The latest fabric album comes from Matthias Tanzmann who eases us gently into Fabric 65 with a slow, atmospheric start.  These first few tracks feel like they’re building up to something a bit livelier…

A crescendo of piano signals the introduction of deeper tracks ‘Sources from the past’ and ‘Not Listening’ (a TK favourite taken from Maya Jane Coles’ DJ Kicks album) and followed by the warping, spacey sounds of Tanzmann’s track ‘Konoa’, you definitely begin to feel this album developing. Squillace’s ‘Do Somebody’ filters nicely into ‘Butt’ with its heavier bass and jumping drum snares, bringing in the tech house vibe that you were expecting from a Tanzmann album. The vibe is continued with ‘Right on, right on’ and the obscurely titled ‘In the toilette’ which builds up to a nice drop about halfway through, taking you through to the closing tracks of Tanzmann’s Fabric album debut.

Fabric 65 gives us a solid mix of tech house dance floor winners with a deep vibe. Bound to be another favourite on the fit to bursting shelf of Fabric albums.

4/5

Fabric 65 is released on Monday. Pre-order here.
