We welcome back the CHAPTER 24 RECORDS crew back this month with another edition of Seven Stories. Sam and Marcus from the label have curated a mighty fine playlist featuring their favourite tracks of the moment. We’ve said it before and we’ll say it again – they have exquisite taste.
Chapter 24 have been very busy indeed. In case you missed it, they featured on BBC Radio 1 as B-Trait’s Label Mates (pretty impressive stuff!) and they’ve just released their latest compilation album – Seven Stories: The Quest. It looks like Chapter 24 have dusted off their dancing shoes for October too as they team up with Moodroom Collective for their next Gather Round party with Tom Demac at Kamio, Shoreditch and then they’re heading over to Amsterdam the following weekend for their first ADE showcase in association with music taste makers When We Dip.
We’ll be heading over to ADE ourselves so will be partying along with the C24 crew and also checking out DGTL X Mosaic where, finally, we will catch the mighty Stephan Bodzin (godzin) as well as Agents of Time, Gardens of God, KiNK and the man himself, Maceo Plex. Yes please. Be sure to follow us on Twitter (@technoktitens) for live updates.
If you like what you hear from this edition of Seven Stories then you’re going to love Chapter 24 – go give them a follow on Soundcloud.
Be sure to check out the detailed track listing below and a few words penned by Sam & Marcus on why these tracks made the cut…
King Britt Pres Obafunke – Uzoamaka (SBTH Remix) [Lossless x SoHaSo]
Marcus: The first release born out of a new collaboration between two of my favourite labels, Lossless and Something Happening Somewhere, Uzoamaka is an original track from 2002 by King Britt. With the original master and pre-master lost in the mists of time, the music has been recovered from the vinyl and is given a groovy, techy, trippy twist by SBTH.
Applescal – Harmony Two [Atomnation]
Sam: This track keeps on blowing me away, even after a couple of months after release. It’s precision engineered – everything in its right place and there isn’t a sound too many or too few in the track. Minimal and forward-looking, have I mentioned I love it?
Michael Mayer & Barnt – Und Da Stehen Fremde Menschen (Patrice Bäumel Remix) [!K7 Records]
Marcus: Patrice’s contribution to the remix package for Kompakt boss Michael Mayer’s new collaborative album ‘&’ is a beast and channels a similar mood to his track ‘Surge’ from earlier in the year (which I also like, a lot).
Nhar – Navigli [Chapter 24]
Sam: We welcome back Nhar on our latest Seven Stories: The Quest compilation after he first released on Chapter 24 last year with his deep and haunting Edition of Kurt Baggaley’s ‘Spiral’. This time he brings an effortless piece of space tech replete with his signature synths and easy groove. A pleasure to listen to!
Terranova – 004remedy feat. Stereo MC’s [Connected]
Marcus: Freaky late night grooves recorded in a room in Tempelhof (the former Berlin airport), this is from the first release on Stereo MC’s and Terranova’s new Connected imprint
Sfire – Sfire 3 (John Talabot’s Tribalist Rework) [Cocktail D’Amore]
Sam: Powerful rework by no other than John Talabot on Cocktail D’Amore. The Tribalist version is my favourite of the three remixes he has put forward, but they’re all worth looking into.
Atelier Francesco – Dead End (Tim Green Remix) [Cityfox]
Marcus: Deep and lovely stuff from Tim Green, this must have found its way into many a Burning Man sunrise set this year.
