Fresh from ADE the CHAPTER 24 lads have pulled together another perfectly dreamy playlist of new music for us. Focussing on melodic house and techno, stick on your headphones and drift away into some seriously deep and dark vibes. Marcus and Sam talk us through their choices under the player…
Joakim – Daemon [Life & Death]
Marcus: Joakim makes his Life & Death debut with an absolute belter of a track. Replete with modular synth tweaks reflecting his electro heritage, this is a scuzzy nod to ’90s Detroit techno epic/melancholic vibes.
Kalipo – Dyson [Audiolith]
Sam: Kalipo is an artist I have on my radar thanks to Chapter 24 artist Miyagi, who has regularly pushed him in his sets and through his own imprint Lost Diaries. This is a deep, hypnotic number with dirty synths and classical Italian choral elements. A nice tension holds the whole thing together.
Vaal – Wander To Hell (Locked Groove Remix) [Afterlife]
Marcus: The second release on the new Tale of Us imprint Afterlife comes from Vaal. Her original and Baikal’s rework are both excellent pieces of music, but it’s this remix from Belgium’s Locked Groove which makes the biggest impression on me.
Patlac – Velox (Matthias Schober’s Raw Version) [Republik Musik]
Sam: Patlac turned in a brilliant set at our inaugural Amsterdam Dance Event label showcase this year. Here Lossless honcho Matthias Schober takes his original and turns it into an unadulterated cut of powerful techno. Killer!
KatrinKa – The Nameless One [Chapter 24]
Marcus: KatrinKa’s latest EP dropped on Chapter 24 in mid-October. Featuring the vocals of Thomas Gandey and including some powerful remixes from Sezer Uysal, Tim Engelhardt and Stas Drive, we’ve included the title track here with its dark, languid rhythms and exotic scales.
Bedouin – Mogram [Kindisch]
Sam: Bedouin make a return to German label Kindisch and do not disappoint. Slow grooves and wonderful, contemplative pianos.
Fango – Medulla [Degustibus Music]
Marcus: Enigmatic artist Fango, described by Kompakt boss Michael Mayer as “the most insane Italian since Berlusconi”, has released a trilogy of EPs entitled Viscera on his home label Degistibus Music. Cerebellum was my standout track from Viscera 2/3 and Medulla, full of drama and tension, is my highlight from the final chapter.
