We had high hopes for Mulletover’s Halloween Party after attending so many fun and well run events by the promoters but unfortunately this party all went a bit Pete Tong. We rocked up at a reasonable 11.30pm to be greeted by a queue that went on and on and on…..the crowd were understandably pretty irritable and two cold and tedious hours later and we made it in to the venue (only a couple of people on the door scanning tickets one by one was not a good idea!). The venue was pretty lacklustre, made up of warehouse buildings (fine) with marquees in between (strange) and a wet soggy muddy floor with huge puddles everywhere (not fun). The crowd wasn’t a very friendly one and there was a bit of an unsettled atmosphere then things got worse at the end of the night when a massive f*ck up was made with the cloakroom and the punters were made to wait outside in the rain for over an hour. The ticketing system was defunct and in the end people were storming the cloakroom grabbing any coat they could, people were fighting and crying and loads of peoples coats were stolen by other people including one of our friends. We saw one guy with three coats saying ‘well mine had been nicked so I took three’. We were pretty pleased that we’d tied our coats to our bag for the night. On the plus side the music was pretty good (what we managed to see, we missed Subb-an whilst waiting in the queue) and Cassy gets a special mention for playing a great set. It’s a real shame that a this joins the list of a few parties that seem to be badly organised lately, they seem to forget that a good night is all in the details…. let’s hope mulletover can sort this out.
UPDATE: Mulletover have issued a statement which does explain a few things particularly the crazy changing bar prices. Let’s hope that they do not work with that venue again.
