This Saturday we’re off to Victoria Park to get our groove on at Field Day London. The one day festival is playing host to a great mix of bands, producers and DJs – it’s the varied music genres and cutting edge acts signed up that really sets this festival apart and has got us super excited.

On our hit list of acts we’re dying to see is the brilliant Four Tet, future garage pioneer Koreless, Daniel Avery for some acid house, Jacques Green, Daphni, Happa, Mount Kimbie, Daphni, Objekt, Seth Troxler and Julio Bashmore. Sadly there’s a few clashes based on the current timing of the acts so we’re using this handy little app ‘Field Day Clash Finder’ to help us figure out how the hell we’re gonna see everyone (check it out)!

‘Meta’ from Revenu has a tribal anthem feel going on then drops in a mean bassline which warps and teases its way through this bouncy house track. This is the third release from the 17 yr old from England’s ‘norf and is available for free DL as part of the DPM download series. DPM is Digital Pirate Material a super cool blog and source of excellent material from the UK’s best pirate radio stations including Rinse FM, Nasty FM and Shoreditch Radio.

Flying in from Ibiza, Circo Loco is returning to Birmingham in 2013 on the 10th  & 11th August, 16 months after their last visit to the city and this time they’re back with one heck of a lineup over 2 days of partying with:

This time they’re joining up with TYPE FESTIVAL to make use of the city’s best underground venues – the Rainbow Warehouse, The Rainbow Garden and the adjoining street underneath the huge brick arches.  Gotta love a good street party! 

We were at last years Easter party and had an awesome time.  There were a few issues with queuing and entry however, but Circo Loco seem to have addressed these and is assuring clubbers that a new door system is going to be in place to avoid the same problems cropping up again. Music to our ears.

With a bigger venue and an even bigger lineup, Circo Loco looks set to be one of the UK clubbing highlights of the year… grab your tickets from RA here.

It’s always a lovely treat when some exciting tunes drop into our inbox & that’s exactly how we came to listen to the latest in the SPEICHER compilation series from KOMPAKT – SPEICHER 75.

Made up of two highly emotive yet simple tracks from Denmark’s KÖLSCH, there is ‘GOLDFISCH’ on the A side – a beautiful track full of shimmering pads and progressive chords. Jump to the flip side and you find ‘ZIG’ a euphoric, disco infused track packed with melodic bass and feel good synths.

Almost a year later we’re returning back to Bloc for the first time to see what all the hype has been about. Saturday is the penultimate event in a sucessful series of parties which have taken the promoters back to their roots. Several friends of ours have been to a few and have been raving (literally) about how great they’ve been. They’ve been reporting that Bloc’s new venue in the depths of east london is one of the best underground venues around at the moment and the atmosphere and music have been spot on. So, on Saturday night one of the kittens is off to see Surgeon, the avant-garde techno legend who is responsible some of the best mean and dark tracks and for making the UK industrial scene what it is now.  Joining the Godfather of UK techno will be Scion, giving a live performance, and reggae vocalist Tikiman. It all sounds rather promising.

Surfing Leons and rapper Miss Eaves track ‘Banga’ mixes hip hop with electro and then on top of that gets a remix treatment from Sinden who adds in industrial sounding drums and gives it a bass booty shakin’ re-workin’. Out now on Forma.T Records.

Released today on George Fitzgerald’s ManMakeMusic label is the Laszlo Dancehall EP, a project between two producers: Leon Vynehall and Christian Piers.  The EP is the eighth release from the label and features 3 tracks that capture the exciting sound of the current underground house scene.  ‘Gave Up’ may be familiar to those of you who tuned into GFitzG’s Essential Mix for Radio 1 – with jumping beats, uplifting melody and catchy vocal hooks it’s got us bouncing about the place.   The flip side see’s tracks ‘Ain’t No Time’ (a more classic, club focused banger) and ‘Manley Harrison’ (with sounds of bongo’s, jazzy vocals and a distorted, pulsating sample at its heart).  Stream below.

On Thursday we were invited down to Shoreditch for the label launch party of Chormoza Recordings.  With upcoming releases in the deep/disco/garage side of house, their sound is right up our street.  We met up with label owners Zoe and Justin and enjoyed sets from the Chromoza DJs, including 21 year old Stranger and special guest D Ramirez.  The party was banging and everyone was having a damn good time.

Zoe and Justin were understandably buzzing and it was great to see how passionate they both were about their new project together.  Having already signed a few DJs to their digital label (Stranger, Thorsten Last and Paradise 45) the couple have a number of further releases schedule for the near future.

The first Chromoza release was scheduled with the label launch and comes from Stranger in the form of his two track EP ‘You Feel This’.  Featuring ‘Move Your Body’ (with a deep melody and catchy vocal sample) and ‘You Feel This’ (a moody, bassier sound) which you can stream below.

We’re excited to see how Chromoza develops and you’ll be sure to hear more about their releases from us in the future. Check out their soundcloud and if you’re a producer that thinks your sound fits with the label then get in touch with them here.

Esteble is Joep Esseling & Bram Harmsen. They emailed us their latest set and we’re smitten. They have great taste and lean towards the warm and melodic side of house. Tracks from HVOB, Guy Gerber and Caribou feature in this excellent and very lovely mix. Free DL below.

Francesco Rossi ‘Paper Aeroplanes  has been getting support from FatBoySlim, Laurent Garnier and Maya Jane Coles who featured it in her excellent Radio 1 Essential Mix last weekend. Buy it here.

This is the first we’ve heard of Grum and the first single to be taken from his forthcoming album ‘Human Touch’. There’s a number of remixes to go with it and it’s the Andre Crom remix that’s taken our fancy – bringing the track a little more underground with some heavier bass. Stream below.

Shibby Shitegeist’s remix of Zeina ‘Muffled Love’ is a big chunky minimal tune packed with squelchy beats and great groove. The EP also features a remix from Alicia Hush and has been doing pretty well in the minimal new release charts making it to no.10. Listen to more and buy it here.

New work from Box of Luca. Great rhythm going on here and the percussion is giving us just a teeny hint of the balearic. Nice intergalactic bleeps and blops.

Pumping minimal to get you doing some serious thrusting on the dance floor. This track comes from Luis M a London based 23yr old making techno from the minimal to the melodic to the progressive. This tracks got a bit of all of ‘em.

Set for release on 22nd May is the brand new EP from Burnski & MANIK – Yellow Jacket Girl. It’s the duo’s third single together and is a deep track with a saucy retro feel, featuring the down n’ dirty vocals of MANIK. The EP features two top notch remixes from Laura Jones and Maxxi Soundsystem – both whom were individually picked by the duo for the remix honours; Maxxi’s remix brings a bassier disco feel whereas Laura Jones has upped the tempo with a distorted, echoey feel to the track. We’ve found it’s one of the few EP’s of late where we’ve found ourselves enjoying the whole EP, and not just one or two tracks – nice work guys! Stream below.

Mr Loco Dice has announced the full line-up of friends who will be joining him during his Used + Abused residency at Ushuaïa Ibiza Beach Hotel. Highlights include Dixon, Jamie Jones, tINI, Dubfire and Richie Hawtin (click on the image above to make it bigger so you can read the dates). It’s all going down every Thursday from 2pm til midnight at Ibiza’s plushest venue, kicking off with the opening party on 6th June. We’re going to be there on the 13th June for Dubfire, Robert Dietz and Matthew Styles, expect poolside posing.

Now let’s enjoy this classic beast of a tune from Loco Dice. If we hear this drop at Used + Abused we are very likely to go a bit crazy.

Our mate GEM DOS has laid down an ace new track with a cool abstract video to go with it. The track is melodic electronica featuring soulful vocals, which are actually one female vocal line pitch shifted and contorted a number of ways. The video features a man with a very nice beard hanging about looking very serious near a lake. It’s a perfect accompaniment to the emotinal down tempo track which is out on 1 July on Clubstream Label Group.
