Readers of this blog will know that we’re big fans of Kolsch here at TTK. His album 1977 (review here) was hands down one of the best LP releases of 2013 and his recent performance at London’s Fire club further cemented our love for this talented producer.
Kolsch’s latest EP (Speicher 79) is set for release on 30th June via Kompakt and is a two track piece of gorgeous electronica. On the A side you have ‘Papageno’ which is a track of two halves – gentle pianos, strings and dreamy vocals meet a bouncy bass melody with electronic whizzes and background noises. On the flip side you have ‘Cassiopeia’ which has the signature Kolsch sound of energetic and emotive house. Pounding piano chords and heavenly strings (from Gregor Schwellenbach) combine to create something quite special and reminds us of another Kolsch classic – Der Alte.
Kolsch is currently on tour and will be hitting up the white isle of Ibiza this summer as well as Glastonbury festival this weekend. Enjoy clips of Speicher 79 below.
