Hi Maxi, for those unfamiliar with your music how would you describe your sound?
It is really difficult for me to describe my own sound, but I hope my sound will describe the pleasure I have by making it. I think the best thing to do is just to listen to the music and let your own interpretation prevail.
You’ve worked closely for many years with Techno Kittens favourite Tom Trago, how did you meet and how do you influence each other in the studio and in the club?
We met about 10 years ago, because we had similar interests in music and were moving in the same scene. We both picked up on the MPC around the same time which allowed us to make lots of beats together. We influence each other first of all by making tracks together. We also give each other feedback on the tracks we make, which is so important.
You also toured with Young Marco, one of our ‘one’s to watch’. Who are your ones to watch at the moment? Who’s going to make their mark this Summer?
You should definitely check out Overlast. He recently released his second EP on Voyage Direct. This man has a lot of unreleased gems in the wings, you’ll be seeing more of him in the future. You also have to keep an eye on upcoming releases from Voyage Direct and Propers Cult, both of which are releasing stuff from lots of new cats this year.
What does the Rush Hour daytime stage have in store for One Day festival?
Fresh music, homemade productions and good vibes!
What’s next for you this year?
I’m busy with making an album on Voyage Direct. I’m also going live at ‘Expedition Festival’ in Rotterdam on the 28th of June.
And finally, what would you do as a Techno Kitten for the day?
The weather is hot at the moment in Amsterdam, so I think I’d open up the windows in the studio, let the summer breeze come in and spend the day there.
