Roman Mühlschlegel is a young German producer who makes thoughtful, intricate house music. We like his style so we asked him a few quickies…
Hey Roman. We have been thoroughly enjoying listening through your productions, you’ve got a great sound. How would you describe it for our readers?
I would say I always try and look for sweet and warm jams that encapsulate the soul of House-music.
Your latest release is a track, and remix of said track, on Barcelona-based label sinnmusik*. Can you tell us a bit about it and how the tracks fit together?
Its a split VA EP. One side by the UK duo Kings of Rats and a remix by Baldo (Good Ratio Music), which are more club oriented and bass heavy with strong beats, refined percussion and captivating vocals by Krystal. Whilst the other side, featuring my track, is way more textured and bumpy, such as the corresponding remix with trippy chords and fat bassline.
You’ve released on sinnmusik* before. What makes it a successful pairing?
We really like each other and became friends! Therefore we are doing the best for each other and trying to grow together.
So, what’s next for you in music and life?
I recently started my own record label ‘Soul Estate’ with a very good friend of mine (Suaave). Our first release is dropping soon vinyl only, featuring two tracks from the both of us (preorder and previews here). We are very excited about all this.
You’re based in Karlsruhe, Germany, we can’t say we know it well. Is it a good city to live in and for music?
Its a beautiful and cozy place and quite small, so it ́s failry easy to get in touch with the local music scene and therefore easier to collaborate and create nice things. You do not have the feeling of competition as people stick together.
And finally the one we ask everyone, what would you do as a techno kitten for the day?
Enjoy a intergalactic flight through outer space.
