We’re on the way…

Today we have our raving bags packed and we’re off to Global Gathering. We’re listening to this set from Al Tourette’s for Boiler Room at Bloc (before it got shut down) and it’s bringing back some great memories of dancing on the mighty fine Sputnik. So, tonight at GG it’s all about the Visionquest stage featuring Art Department, Lewis Boardman, David Squillace and Visionquest. Happy Friday dancing indeed. Keep smiling on us Mr Sunshine.

Oh Bloc

You’ll have heard by now that Bloc 2012 all went a bit tits up. We think the best words to use for all involved are ‘utterly gutted’. However, bad news aside we were lucky enough to have a bloody brilliant 8hrs in Bloc. We turned up at 4.30pm and sailed through into the site which was like a magical playground for electronic music loving kids. After skipping around checking it all out we headed straight to the Stubnitz which blew us away. The Stubnitz is one of the coolest and most unusual venues we have ever danced in, 3 levels of pure excitement. We danced away to slamming sets from Deadboy and Pinch before making our way over the Resident Advisor tent for Nicolas Jaar who played another blinder. Amon Tobin was a big highlight, we wiggled our way to quite near the front and got to see Amon smash it in a spectacular fashion and lapping up the love from the crowd. After that we caught a bit of Shackleton before taking a ride on the Ceephax Acid Waltzers, another highlight where we giggled our heads off in sheer delight. After that it all started going a bit pear shaped….you’ve probably heard it all by now. We made a safe escape at about 1.30am.

Bloc have issued an apology and obviously have a lot on their hands right now. They had such a great vision and we really feel bad for them that it all went so wrong. We hope they can come back from this and put on another great event as the time we did have there was super special. We’re also very sorry to hear about all the people that didn’t even make it into the site and get to see any of the fun things that we did. Maybe Bloc could throw us all a big party to make up for it…..??

Mulletover rock Bloc

So it’s Bloc.2012 tomorrow. We’re rather excited. Even more so because our lovely friends at mulletover have an absolute treat in store for us on Friday night.

Taking center stage of Bloc’s alternative millenium dome will be a mulletover showcase consisting of Steffi, Art Department, Jamie Jones and of course mulletover founder and resident, Geddes.

We’ve got a lot of love for mulletover and with a line up like that we can’t but help get even more excited about this weekend.

We last saw Jamie and Art Department in Ibiza a few weeks ago when they rocked DC10 (see our Ibiza Special). This will be the first time we’ve seen Steffi play live, so we’re pretty hyped about that.

Of course the mulletover showcase is only one part of Bloc.2012, so it will be difficult to decide where to focus our raving efforts. You’ll find us somewhere between the dome, Stubnitz and the Waltzers….

In the meantime, take a listen to this banging set from Art Department at the Ministry of Sound car park back in May.

Weekend & Friday tickets for Bloc are sold out but there are a limited number of Saturday tickets remaining. Get your paws on them here!

Get your Addison Groove on

High on our ‘must see’ list at this weekends Bloc is UK dubstep act Addison Groove (aka. Headhunter). His track ‘Footcrab’, released in 2010 on Swamp 81 was one of the first of many juke influenced UK releases and inspired in turn a whole wave of juke infused tracks from artists such as iTAL tEK and Rammadanman. Check out his 2011 release “This is it” below, a VIP of which was dropped by Pinch on his recent Fabric Mix and we hope to hear it drop at Bloc this weekend!

Addison Groove is playing at Bloc Weekend this Friday at 05.00 (well actually that’s Saturday but you know what we mean). View the full line-up here.

BLOC BLOC BABY

The countdown to Londons best ever electronic music event is on! 10 days to be exact. Bloc Weekend oh yeah baby. The line-up is completely ramoed with the best acts in techno, house and experimental at the moment (we’re not too sure what Snoop Dogg’s doing on there though) and the venue looks unbelievable. There are so many acts that we want to see, we’re not sure we’re going to be able to fit them all in. Saturday headliners Orbital are pretty high up there along with Scuba, Art Department, Surgeon, Martyn, Jamie Jones, Nicolas Jaar, Richie Hawtin and Addison Groove. See the full line-up here.

Not only will we be spoilt rotten with amazing music we’re also going to be treated to some other unique and unmissable experiences. Amon Tobin will be presenting his ISAM project on the Friday. If you’re not aware of Amon Tobin’s work have a little peek at this video, mind blowing stuff, can’t ‘effin wait for that! Then there’s the Ceephax Acid Waltzers – funfair waltzers with a dj booth in the middle – which look stupidly fun and the MS Stubnitz – a huge German vessel decked out as a rave machine. The brand spanking new opening this weekend London Pleasure Gardens look set to be the best urban playground we’ve ever experienced. Excited does not even begin to describe it.
