Fans of dirty bass are rejoicing at the news that Justin Martin and Eats Everything have decided to team up for the first of many collaborative EP’s. Expect BIG TUNES from this pair. They tease us with a preview and it’s sounding gooood! Out next Monday.
Last night’s Essential Mix saw Eats Everything editing the hell outta loadsa great tracks. Very enjoyable listening.
Eats Everything’s reruff of Justin Martin ‘Ruff Stuff’ is big, fat and juicy. Ace bass. We can imagine this would sound pretty insane on the dance floor and get you bouncing your bootay like Beyonce. Filthy good.
The Techno Kittens have been sent a slew of rather excellent promos recently which make us feel slightly less sad about the winter as there are some great albums and great parties coming up in the next few months. Our current favourite is the new Body Language album helmed by the extremely appropriate Polish duo Catz n Dogz due out on the 5th November. A real lesson in genre splicing and blending, this ambitious album steadily holds it together on a journey through techno, house, garage and bass, retaining a sense of fun and surprise. Accessible and yet exclusive with tracks from Soul Clap, Eats Everything, Alien Alien, Justin Martin and Rhythm Plate, stand out track has to be this little gem, pushes all our buttons for some reason…

“This is our first official mix compilation, so we wanted to make it very special. We knew we want to make something showing all the music we like and what we play in clubs. Most of the older tunes we put in our mix have a lot of meaning to us. J. Antoni, Rhythm Plate, Schatrax or Gant – we have them on vinyl and through all these years the records are so used, that it is impossible to play them in the club anymore, because the needle always skips and they are really hard to get! What took the most time was to find all the people that own the rights to the old tracks we used in the mix, and allow us to remaster them and put them in our mix. It´s nice that some of the classics (that we love), will be now known and heard at home by other people; thanks to this compilation.”
“For our own label, ’Pets Recordings’, we get a lot of demos, and we got in touch with some new talents like Eats Everything, Chmara Winter, Trikk and Squarehead. They made really cool exclusive tracks for us and every track is very different. We are especially very happy with the Chmara Winter track and the SLG edit of Chez Damier and Robert Bosco, because it adds another Polish artist to the mix; and these guys are really talented.”
“We really wanted to show that it is possible to put every kind of genre of club music in one mix. That’s the idea of the cover; it shows our heads cut in half and with layers inside. We tried to create an art form from different layers that completes one finished piece. When we play in the club, we play very similar and we are changing the mood very often and try to keep things fresh and the surprise factor high.”

On Saturday fabric threw a hell of a party. We were pretty excited about going as you might have guessed from our preview. It didn’t disappoint.
Arriving shortly after midnight (but thankfully avoiding the longest queues we’ve ever seen thanks to advance tickets) we took a stroll around and checked out each room. Room 3 was the room we were most excited about, with the futureboogie showcase that was going down. It was pretty clear that we weren’t the only ones as the room quickly filled up and there was a steady stream of ravers heading into the intimate room.
Room 2 offered a heavier sound than the other two rooms with Ben Sims and Stephen Brown playing some great techno. It was the first time we’d seen these guys play and it won’t be the last. It was great to be able to switch from the deep/tech sounds of rooms 1 and 2 and loose ourselves to some banging techno.
We caught Art Department briefly in room 1, who as you would expect packed out the room. But as predicted, room 3 was where we spent most of the night…
futureboogie brought along their Bristol massive and it was an absolute pleasure to meet and spend the night with some of them. The highlight had to be Eats Everything, serving up a great set who was followed by our faves Waifs & Strays. An absolutely amazing night and one that affirms our view of fabric as one of the best clubs in the world.
After all that excitement we spent Sunday curled up in bed listening to this uber chilled tack from Lake Powel. We recommend it for next time you’re feeling a bit delicate – buy it from decks.de
