Club Night Review x 2: Drumcode & Innervisions

DRUMCODE
The underground tunnels in South London had been made up to look like a crypt and the crowd had made a good effort with their costumes creating a creepy exciting atmosphere. Our hot new find of the night was Nicole Moudaber who started off with some classic tracks progressing into something heavy and pounding, we liked her style a lot. Pan-Pot gave us a perfect party set with a haunted edge and had the crowd jumping around, shaking it hard and then…Beyer. Oh Adam Beyer- he’s called a techno legend for a reason. Pouding, heavy, relentless and seamlessly mixed. Techno heaven.

INNERVISIONS
It was our first trip to I CAN STUDIOS in East London and boy what a treat. A lovely big white studio space with a balcony overlooking the dance floor of Room 1 and lots of nice nooks and crannies to go and hide in. The music, crowd and atmosphere were all superlative with Ame and Dixon completely hypnotising the crowd and the Kittens with their unique Innervisions sound (so much so we never even made it to Room 2 to check out Todd Terje and Prins Thomas!) On to the Stubnitz for the after party and our second visit to quite possibly the best party venue we’ve ever stepped in. Dolan Bergin opened proceedings here and played an incredible set punctuated by some ultimate Techno Kittens faves. Then after their short rest Dixon and Ame returned again rejuvenated and refreshed holding the crowd in the palm of their hands til they all said goodbye at midday. We overheard more than one person say ‘best night ever…’

Boys Boys Boys

As we’ve mentioned the Techno Kittens are splitting allegiances tonight with two of us off to the sold out Innervisions vs Permanent Vacation party to see Ame, Dixon, Todd Terje and Tensnake and the other one off to the Drumcode Fright Night to see Adam Beyer, Maetrik and Pan-Pot. With some of our very favourite djs playing we’re all going to be in for a good night. We’ve picked sets from both below to get you in the Saturday night party mood. Which party would you pick…..?

PS. We’re going to be making it to the Innervisions after party on the Stubnitz too. Check back next week for reviews and pictures.

Sublime Stuff

This beautiful piece of house music comes from Ian Pooley with a ’4/4 treatment’ from Dixon. Lush.

This Saturday we are very very excited to be attending the Innervisions x Permanent Vacation night in East London which has a squealtastic line-up- Dixon, Ame, Tensnake, Todd Terje and Prins Thomas. The tickets have been sold out for a while now but check back next week for the low down.

More….disco kitten Prins Thomas releases his second LP next week and it’s currently available to stream on RA.

Even more….and here’s a little video of Dixon chatting about music and being a ledge.

Wanna party for free tonight?

Electric Minds are throwing a birthday party tonight at Plastic People in Shoreditch to celebrate 7 years of hosting some of the best nights in London. Dolan Bergin and Paul Crognale are on the decks plus a very special guest to be announced later today…. Best of all it’s free and you can sign up here.

Electric Minds have more goodies lined up in the coming months than we can handle. There’s a Bleep.com party with Lucy, Pangaea and Objekt, Innervisions vs Permanent Vacation with Dixon, Ame, Tennsnake and Todd Terje and Non Plus x Workshop with Boddika, Joy Orbison and Skudge.

Our party of choice is the Innervisions vs Permanent Vacation night which has been in our diaries for a long time. That’s one hell of a special line-up! Buy ticket here before they sell out – which they very nearly have.

Here’s Dixon’s Boiler Room set from a few months back to whet your appetite.

Dancing to Dixon

Lovebox today kittens! As long as it stays dry we can dance ourselves warm and imagine we’re with our friends in Ibiza. We’re getting our festival gear on listening to Dixon who is probably top of our ‘to see’ list today. Dixon is one of the founders of label Innervisions (read our label showcase here) and all round master of the mix. Here’s a 30min video of Dixon playing at Boiler Room, watch him in action and get the podacst here.
