We’re super excited to see that Richie Hawtin is bringing his awesome ENTER concept from Ibiza to London… to one of our fave venues too – Brixton Academy. As if that wasn’t enough, not only is the main man playing himself but he’s gonna be joined by an all star cast of some of our fave’s – Maya Jane Coles, Heidi, Matador and Magda! Bring on the girls. Oh wow.
To sweeten the deal even more, it’s being held on a bank holiday weekend, so completely guilt free raving on a Sunday night (5th May)! Tickets go on sale this Friday at 10am and the first batch are £25+BF. Get your paws on these because they won’t be around for long…! See you there.
Step right up, step right up… Circus is back in London and what a lineup it is! Yousef, Lee Foss and Matador (plus more to be announced soon!). We’ve been looking forward to this night for a few weeks now and it’s a perfect start (or continuation!) of the Xmas party season – predating the Boxing day bonanza that Circus has back on it’s home turf of Liverpool with Loco Dice, Guti, Art Department and Yousef all headlining this post-Xmas party. Wowzers. What a perfect way to dance away all that excess turkey.
We saw Matador play for the first time earlier this year at the mixmag live session with techno legend Richie Hawtin. We were really impressed with his set of perfect, pumping techno. This man from M-nus knows how to get you moving… as do both the brilliant Lee Foss and Yousef of course! We’re set for a great party, so get yourself a ticketand look out for some dancing kittens… it is the circus after all.
Check out Yousef’s Essential Mix for BBC Radio 1 below – recorded live at Circus in Liverpool earlier this year.
We have discovered the super cute series that Richie Hawtin has been making to promote his Enter residency at Space Ibiza. The videos feature the man himself hanging out in the pool with other techno legends like Magda, Mathew Jonson and Ben Klock ahead of the big night. They chat about music, sake and sunshine and display their under water skills. Make sure you check out the whole series on the MinusOfficial YouTube channel, they are well worth the watch. We have major envy of Magda’s inflatable giraffe. We need to get inflatable kittens for our Ibiza trip next summer!
You’ll probably have heard about Richie Hawtin and the Minus crews new residency ‘Enter’ at Space, Ibiza on Thursdays already. There has been a super slick advertising campaign (watch the very cool promo video below with an amazing track from Hobo) and Richie and the team have been sharing their adventures with us all on facebook by posting plenty of pictures.
For 12 weeks Enter gives us amazing line-ups featuring loads of our favourite techno acts including Mathew Jonson, Magda, Gaiser, The Martinez Brothers and Ben Klock. Check out the full schedule on their site – it’s enough to make us pack up our bags and go and live in Ibiza for the rest of the season. Unfortunately we can’t really do that so instead we’re making do with this set from the opening night, brought to us from the lovely Techno Live Sets, to transport us to Enter for three giddy hours. Richie expertly builds up the atmosphere then hits us with plenty of pounding yet sublime tunes that we can imagine had the dancefloor moving as one.
And as if Enter wasn’t cool enough already they have also created a special app called ‘Smudge’ (find it for free in the app store) which allows users to interact with audio and visual installations in and around Space. You have to be there to use it properly but we love the concept and are enjoying making shapes with the inky blob on our screen for the meantime.
We sure hope Enter continues for another season in 2013 so we can go and experience it for ourselves. Have you been? Let us know what it’s like and spread the dot!
The first time we heard of Matador (a new-ish member of the Minus family) was at the Mixmag New Horizons party we went to in February. His set was part of a night at Village Underground in East London where he was followed by the one and only Richie Hawtin. For us Matador’s set was exactly what we were expecting from the night – it’s minimal, upbeat and there are a lot of interesting effects used to transform each track to deliver something pretty unique. This set is a great introduction to Matador, a new Techno Kitten favourite that we will definitely be keeping an eye on…
