NEW RUSTIE – SLASHERRR

Rustie

We haven’t heard a lot from Rustie since his super album of 2011 ‘Glass Swords’. Well he’s back and as energetic as ever. ‘Slasherrr’ has the unmistakeable Rustie heavy synth sound and is massively infectious. He mentions on his FB page another track to accompany this one coming soon ‘Triadzz’. Watch this space.

BARKER & BAUMECKER GET REMIXED

BBremixes

Ostgut Ton’s Sam Barker & Andreas Baumecker, aka Barker & Baumecker, have asked a bunch of their dj mates to remix some of their tracks for the latest release on the German label. The first three tracks are reworked by Machinedrum, Kobosil and Blawan. Track four is given a pumping direct treatment courtesy of Third Side who comprise of Lucretio, Marieu and Steffi. Which is your favourite? We’re really enjoying the rhythmic darkness of Blawan’s take on ‘Crows’ and are looking forward to seeing him for the first time at Eastern Electrics Festival this summer. Pounder.

EP REVIEW: MICHAEL IMPERIAL – SECRET DRUGS VOL.2

secretvol2

Michael Imperial hails from Toronto, Canada and we think he’s going to be a name to watch for 2013. His second EP ‘Secret Drugs – Volume 2’ was released at the end of last year and is picking up momentum after track.1 ‘Mirror’ was played by Skream and Benga on their BBC Radio 1 show. We’re keen on all seven tracks from the EP, all equally infectious and well produced. There’s quite a bit of variety here from pop/r’n’b influenced uplifters to bassier booty shakers, to a hint of disco and something more mellow. There are plenty of pretty melodies laced with catchy vocal samples to get stuck in your head. If you’re a fan of Rustie you’ll like this- it’s a less hectic version. We’re really really enjoying it- if you do too show Michael some support by buying the EP on Bandcamp below.

Let’s have a Field Day

Today the Kittens are off to their first festival of the summer, East London’s one-dayer Field Day. We’ve always had a great time at this fun and friendly day out and after we’ve had our fair share of village fete activities and yummies from the food stalls we’ll get down to some serious raving. We’re most excited about seeing Eats Everything, Rustie, Zomby, Rocketnumbernine, Gold Panda and of course Miss MJC. There are oodles of good acts on the line up and we’re hoping to discover some new faves too. Keep an eye on twitter today for updates and pictures.

Turn up this up loud and feel the outdoor dancing vibes.
