We <3 Ibiza – TK top 5

Ah, we’re still suffering from the Ibiza Blues. It’s been one week since we were partying over on the white isle, and now its back to reality. But what a week it was!

So now it’s time to reflect on what an amazing time we had, and we’ve put our heads together to come up with our Ibiza 2012 top 5. So read on…

1. Circo Loco & Cocoon

Hawtin, Troxler, Jones, Plex, Dice, Lazarus, Allien and of course The Brothers. Do we need to say anymore?? Just that DC10 is possibly our favourite club, and Amnesia was perfect for the excitement of Cocoon.

2. Maya Jane Coles @ Kehakuma

Regular readers will know that we are BIG fans of MJC. We were pretty excited to see her play at Space for Kehakuma. As you would expect, she didn’t disappoint. Steve Lawler was pretty impressive too, but MJC stole the night for us, full of energy and big bassy beats, she well and truly owned the terrace at Space, you could tell she was loving every minute of it. We took a little video for you… (track ID anyone??)

3. Bora Bora

Having arrived on the first day, we spent the first few hours exploring our new playground – Playa d’en Bossa. Walking along the beach we took in the sights; Carl Cox‘s Sands, Bora Bora and the sunbathing talent. We decided to grab some sangria and join the party over at Bora Bora. There was a great party vibe, with tech house blaring, people dancing and the resident Spiderman throwing some interesting moves…

4. Ibiza Underground

Following a fun day trip to The Zoo Project, where the seals were replaced with DJ’s and the monkeys replaced with party goers, we decided to take a trip to less well-known club, Ibiza Underground. Located outside of San Antonio, it attracted a nice relaxed crowd and with a big chill out terrace and a packed out dance floor, the €20 (ladies free entry) entrance fee was well worth it!

5. Scuba, Skudge and Heidi

Although this is ranked #5 on our list… do not be mistaken – We Love @ Space was a brilliant night. The trio we’ve picked out absolutely smashed the night. Scuba and Skudge played back to back in the main room and blew us away with two hours of techno and deep, dark house – Scuba making our night by dropping NE1BUTU. We nipped over to the terrace to catch Heidi, who really played into the crowd and dropped some nice techy tunes.

So that’s our Ibiza top 5, but we’d love to hear if you’re going out there or if you already have… let us know what nights you visit and what DJ’s made your trip.

Ibiza is definitely the place to go for lovers of Electronic Music. You’ll find us there next year. In fact, we’ve already started planning Ibiza 2013.

Get Skudged

One of our stand out acts in Ibiza was Swedish duo Skudge. Skudge front their own label Skudge Records and have been really prolific over the past three years producing loads of great tracks in a variety of styles, mostly focusing on techno (check out their soundcloud page).

We’re enjoying this live PA from Berlin’s Berghain. All tracks are unreleased and live and it really showcases how talented these guys are. It’s available to download for free too, very nice.

The Big Three

rave kitty blue

Tonight is the night(s) in Ibiza we have really been looking forward to. We Love Space with James Zabiela, Hot Chip, Scuba, Skudge and Heidi, then on to Circoloco at DC10 for Tania Vulcano, Seth Troxler, Jamie Jones, Ellen Allien, Damian Lazarus, Maceo Plex, Art Department and Soul Clap (wowzers) and if we haven’t passed out with excitement by then we’ll be finishing off with Cocoon at Amnesia with Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice and The Martinez Brothers. Raving doesn’t get any better than this!

What’s the best line-up you’ve ever seen in Ibiza?

Feel the DC10 vibes with the latest deep house release on Crosstown Rebels Walker & Royce ‘You’re Not Welcome’ we like the Francesca Lombardo Remix. Buy it here.

Ibiza Baby

In 4 days time we’ll be touching down in the worlds most hedonistic destination for a week of Ibizan shenanigans. Lovingly known by pikeys all over the UK as Beefa, we’ll be staying firmly put on the side of the island that doesn’t play Tiesto. The itinerary for the week includes Luciano at Ushuaia, Khekhuma & We love at Space, The Zoo Project , Cocoon at Amnesia and Circo Loco at DC10 ending with the Together opening party.  Phew.

Ibiza attracts the best DJs from all walks of electronic music and this week is no exception. We’ll be shaking it to the likes of Richie Hawtin, Loco Dice, The Martinez Brothers, Steve Lawler, Maya Jane Coles, LucianoGroove Armada, James Zabiela, Scuba, Heidi, Skudge and Annie Mac. And that’s not the full list – Circo Loco is yet to announce their lineup!

We’re really interested to check out new club Plan Be Ibiza. Describing itself as ‘Hedonistic, free from commercialism, unpredictable and totally music focused’ it sounds like underground party perfection. This will be our second trip to the land of love and we’re excited to see what’s in store for us this time. Highlights from our last trip include dancing with puppets in DC10, watching the sun come up in Space and getting uber minimal at Cocoon.

Keep an eye on the blog for more music/news/Ibiza action.

Here’s a jackin set from The Martinez Brothers.  Have a great weekend!
