Desolat founder Loco Dice has just announced a new residency in Ibiza for 2013 ‘Used & Abused’ at the Ushuaïa Beach Hotel. Ushuaïa is one of those amazingly glitzy venues that could only work on the white isle – a twinkling pool surrounded by gorgeous people dancing in bikini’s, palm tree’s and a pristine rock star-esque hotel. The kind of place you can’t really believe you’re at – it’s a bit like being in David Guetta music video but with decent music. Very fitting then that ‘Used & Abused’ will be kicking off during the daylight hours from 2pm til midnight. Loco Dice has a reputation for proper party music so it’s going to be another unmissable ticket to add to your Ibiza calendar. Bring. It. On. Is all we can say.
The opening party for the latest addition, to what’s shaping up to be an amazing year on Ibiza, is on Thursday 6th June – oh and we’ll be there! Full line ups yet to be announced. Whimsical arty promo vid below.
This weekend we ventured up north for an adventurous time in Manchester. Having heard that the legendary Sankeys is closing on the 6th May (sad times) so that they can concentrate on Sankeys Ibiza, we needed to get up there one last time to experience the amazing buzz of the club.
When we arrived at the Vertigo Festival pre-party Guti was half way through his set, the crowd were in high spirits and the atmosphere was electric; we knew we were in for a good time! We were surprised to see that there was a small ‘shuffling’ crowd throwing shapes, but the crazy little dancers kept in their groups and everyone raved in peace. Mathias Kadenwas the highlight of the night for us, his energy was infectious and the crowd couldn’t get enough; a lot of the crowd had been waiting a long time to see Kaden as it was his first time playing at Sankeys, he did not disappoint!
With Sankeys shutting down it is definitely worth the trip to Manchester to experience the atmosphere and excitement of the club if you have never been. There are nine parties left for you to choose from, with the final one being the Sankeys Closing After-Partybut if you cant make any of them, get on a flight to Ibiza this summer for Sankeys Ibiza, the line up is already looking very nice!
Oh, and of course there’s Vertigo Festivaltaking place in Italy 15-18th August inclusive, where the lineup is not to be missed either and tickets are only £99. This is going to be one hulluva summer! Check out the latest track from headliner Steve Lawler below.
Techno legend Josh Wink hasn’t released a track in four years and is back with a blinder which is already being supported by the likes of Richie Hawtin, Erol Alkan and Sven Vath. Minimal edge yet mega bouncy, we like. Here’s a clip of it being dropped. BIG.
This Saturday 2/3/12 there’s one hell of a lineup playing at London’s Fire club, with Steve Lawler, The Martinez Brothers, Tiefschwarz and Darius Syrossian all headlining this VIVa Warriors party. Having only recently announced The Martinez Brothers as their special guest, we’re pretty sure this is gonna be a sold out crowd. It’s been a while since we last saw the brothers play (last easter at Circo Loco!) and that combined with the rest of this killer lineup makes us some very excited kittens.
Tickets are still on sale, but we doubt they will be for much longer. Grab yours from RA and we’ll se you there! Look out for our review early next week.
Ah, we’re still suffering from the Ibiza Blues. It’s been one week since we were partying over on the white isle, and now its back to reality. But what a week it was!
So now it’s time to reflect on what an amazing time we had, and we’ve put our heads together to come up with our Ibiza 2012 top 5. So read on…
1. Circo Loco & Cocoon
Hawtin, Troxler, Jones, Plex, Dice, Lazarus, Allien and of course The Brothers. Do we need to say anymore?? Just that DC10 is possibly our favourite club, and Amnesia was perfect for the excitement of Cocoon.
2. Maya Jane Coles @ Kehakuma
Regular readers will know that we are BIG fans of MJC. We were pretty excited to see her play at Space for Kehakuma. As you would expect, she didn’t disappoint. Steve Lawler was pretty impressive too, but MJC stole the night for us, full of energy and big bassy beats, she well and truly owned the terrace at Space, you could tell she was loving every minute of it. We took a little video for you… (track ID anyone??)
3. Bora Bora
Having arrived on the first day, we spent the first few hours exploring our new playground – Playa d’en Bossa. Walking along the beach we took in the sights; Carl Cox‘s Sands, Bora Bora and the sunbathing talent. We decided to grab some sangria and join the party over at Bora Bora. There was a great party vibe, with tech house blaring, people dancing and the resident Spiderman throwing some interesting moves…
4. Ibiza Underground
Following a fun day trip to The Zoo Project, where the seals were replaced with DJ’s and the monkeys replaced with party goers, we decided to take a trip to less well-known club, Ibiza Underground. Located outside of San Antonio, it attracted a nice relaxed crowd and with a big chill out terrace and a packed out dance floor, the €20 (ladies free entry) entrance fee was well worth it!
5. Scuba, Skudge and Heidi
Although this is ranked #5 on our list… do not be mistaken – We Love @ Space was a brilliant night. The trio we’ve picked out absolutely smashed the night. Scuba and Skudge played back to back in the main room and blew us away with two hours of techno and deep, dark house – Scuba making our night by dropping NE1BUTU. We nipped over to the terrace to catch Heidi, who really played into the crowd and dropped some nice techy tunes.
So that’s our Ibiza top 5, but we’d love to hear if you’re going out there or if you already have… let us know what nights you visit and what DJ’s made your trip.
Ibiza is definitely the place to go for lovers of Electronic Music. You’ll find us there next year. In fact, we’ve already started planning Ibiza 2013.
